Up and down the ballot, eh?
From the desk of the indomitable Alice Priest, in reply to this charming little missive from the "Young Democrats of Arizona"

Hi Stan,

What are the Dems offering me to "vote for Democrats up and down the ballot?" You can't possibly be arguing that being against the Republicans should mean being FOR Democrats. I'm sure you really meant to send us all a message about how much hard evidence the Democrats have for what they're doing for us, so they EARN my vote. I hope you revise this email to include your original message that, instead of attacking the opposition, presents both sides and allows us to make decisions for ourselves instead of trying to get votes from unknowing citizens for representatives like yourself that are reduced to rabble rousing for votes. Surely you have some sound reasoning for getting me to register and vote for you? Maybe I will start my own club: The Read the Proposed Legislation and Learn to Vote Where It Really Counts for You Club.

Note: the links in the email purport to take you to www.servicearizona.com but in fact take you to the "wiredforchange" site where they can track your interest and then redirect you to the real site. Lovely work, Dems. Don't forget: this year's winner of the First Mud-Slinging Political Snail Mail contest was won by the AZ Dems, well before anything negative has shown up from their opposition. Cheers! --irb

Subject: Your college tuition and loan interest rates will go up next year

That's what Republicans want. Your tuition should go up, you should earn
less for hard work, and you should fend for yourself if you get sick. I'm
serious, these are their positions. Republicans want to repeal health
insurance reform, which allows you to stay on your parents' plan until you
turn 26, giving you time to find a job after college with good insurance.
Republicans have fought fair wages in the past, and in fact, Republicans in
our state legislature nearly enacted a law this year that would LOWER the
minimum wage for those under 22 years old. And it's the Republicans who cut
over 1 billion dollars from education forcing higher tuition increases.

You can stop them by getting registered to vote at your current address
in the upcoming election. It takes two minutes. Go to
www.servicearizona.com [http://yda.wiredforchange.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=cC38AAPYxDoVn1Ry4msAIuwBBJnDOGGd]
and register to vote. *Even if you think you may already be registered*, you
may want to double check. It only takes two minutes and the last thing you
want is to go to the polls and be told you can't vote.

Don't stop there. You need to vote for the Democrats up and down the ballot
to keep change moving forward. You can even vote on campus starting October
11th. But, you need to be registered at your current address, which you
can do by going to
www.servicearizona.com [http://yda.wiredforchange.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=zveydMp0qsNWOB%2FYf7VmaewBBJnDOGGd]
right now and spend just two minutes filling out a quick form. Be sure to
print your receipt at the end, and take it with you and a government issued
photo ID to the early polling site on campus starting October 11th to
vote. The early voting site is at the Palo Verde - West dorm. It will be
open Monday through Thursday from 10:00am to 6:00pm and Friday from 10:00am
to 5:00pm.

You can make sure education gets the funding it needs, you can make sure
that health reform works, and you can make sure that you earn fair wages for
your hard work. *You need to register to vote at your current address*
[http://yda.wiredforchange.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=iUY0r%2BfNplEV282NNwcF7%2BwBBJnDOGGd] and
make your voice heard in this election! You can get registered to vote
online and it only takes two minutes. Go to www.servicearizona.com
[http://yda.wiredforchange.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=tBUv4%2Fd6Icy7Nyj7WTNf1ewBBJnDOGGd] and
register to vote now.

The stakes couldn't be higher. The Republicans had control of all
branches of Government for a full six years, and drove our economy into a
ditch. Now as we finally are heading in the right direction we need to keep
the change we fought so hard for in 2008. President Obama and the Democratic
Congress have done everything to get us moving again, and it's working.
Things aren't moving as fast as we want; no one will deny that. I am angry
we haven't made more progress, and you should be too. The way to make more
progress is to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. It took George Bush 8
years to destroy our economy, and in just two years we have made great
strides, but we need to keep Democrats in control to keep moving forward.

We can't do that without you. *You aren't registered to vote at your
current address*, and there is an easy way to fix that online. Go to
www.servicearizona.com [http://yda.wiredforchange.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=26Fz96TvVMxnOW0UpRdGwewBBJnDOGGd]
right now and take 2 minutes to register to vote. The deadline is this Monday,
October 4 th, so register now!

You can make sure this election sends a message to anyone holding back
progress. Register to vote today, and make your voice heard in this election.

Sincerely,

Stan Williams
